16 Month Update

Developments this month...

• Her vocabulary seems to be expanding everyday!  She says: mama, dada, Emily, Mimi, Kyle, Mallory, Landon, Tucker, ball, bubble, baby, cookie, cracker, cupcake, uh oh, what's that, wow, bye-bye, done, tickle-tickle, down, bad-bad, good girl, papa, Sam, purse, noodle, one, row-row, no-no, yes
• We continue to work on her animal sounds and she makes sounds for dog, monkey, elephant, bear, snake, cow, alligator (chomping motion), kitty cat, bee, roster  
• She can point to many of her body parts....hair, head, ears, eyes, nose, tongue, armpit (which comes with a 'spi-spi' sound affect like she is putting deodorant on), belly button, knees, toes, chin, cheeks 
• Favorite songs these days are  'Row, Row Your Boat', 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'If You're Happy and You Know It'.  John has probably done 'Row, Row Your Boat' a million times with her and she starts asking for it again before you can even finish the song.
• She gives commands to Emily...raises one hand and says 'down' and then its usually followed by 'bad-bad'.  Ha!  We are working on saying 'good girl' once Emily lays down but she isn't picking that up as quickly as she did 'bad-bad'...funny?!
• She still loves her purse and Bitty Baby and is now attempting to change the baby's diaper along with feeding and walking it.
• She has started to show interest in coloring more but that might just be because she likes eating the crayons...gotta watch her closely when the crayons come out -- we've learned the hard way!

Her "psss" (purse) goes with her almost everywhere these days!

She still loves to sit in a box...no matter the size!

 

 

She has found a dog that won't buck her off when she rides it like a pony.

 

 

She loves to wear her winter hat...even in the house...

and sunglasses too!

 

 

We've been able to spend a few nice afternoons outside recently

and she insisted that I put these goggles on her head...she kept them on for probably 30 minutes.

I think she heard the groundhog predicted an early spring so she's hopeful the ppol will be opening soon :)

 

She even modeled her friend Tucker's hat...while sporting the goggles. ha!



1st Anniversary!

Well, we made it -- one year of blogging in the books!  I know pretty exciting stuff, right?!?  Well if you remember back on February 1st of 2012, I didn't promise much... except for lots of cute pictures of my baby girl and I think I delivered on that promise!  366 days gone by and 185 posts, not too bad for the first year.  So a big thank you to my loyal readers...all ten of you...mostly family and a few close friends...but that's how I want it...just a little window into our world here in Arkansas for our loved ones who we don't get to see everyday.

70 and January!

What else do you do when its 70 degrees in January...PLAY OUTSIDE!

Now the hat and vest weren't completely necessary but it was very windy today so it made mom and dad feel better about letting her play outside in January when she already has a runny nose and cough.

Seasame Street

The weather here has been crazy the last couple of weeks and it looks like its going to continue right on into next week.  One day its freezing cold and rainy and the next its 60+ degrees.  I know I have no right to be complaining (and I'm not really, just stating fact) as most of my family and friends up north are see day after day of below zero temperatures...but...

Addison doesn't know what to do...one day I let her go outside and ride her bike and play in the yard and the next I dress her like an eskimo and rush her from the car into the house.  We've had some chilly mornings though and although she still isn't a big TV watcher I've turned on Sesame Street a few times recently...I think she likes it!

It only lasted about 5 minutes and she lost interest!

15 Month Well Child Check-Up

Just so I don't forget and keep my virtual baby book updated...

I took Addison to her 15 month well child check-up last week.  She weighed in at 2l pounds and 2 ounces, 30 inches long and a head circumference of 48cm. 

She had to get 3 shots and blood drawn...but she was a trooper.  What bothered her the most -- the incredibly large band aid they put on her finger after drawing the blood...ha!  And of course we brought along our purse to entertain us while we were waiting.

Made By M.E. Update

We've been busy in the Made By M.E. kitchen...

Last week I baked 3 dozen sugar cookies, 2 dozen cupcakes and capped off the weekend with a tank cake for a boy's 12th birthday!

Why 3 dozen Christmas cookies in January you might ask?  The Children's Christmas Train check presentation was this past Friday.  And for some reason I realized I didn't snap a single picture of the cookies that I decorated this Christmas...so now I have some!
