Soaking up Summer

Sorry I haven't blogged lately, we've been busy soaking up the remaining days of summer!  But with another string of 90+ degree days in our future, looks like my blogging break might just last a little longer...

22 Month Update

Developments this month...

• She is putting phrases together and surprising us everyday with what she says and repeats...favorites this month -- "Happy Birthday To Me" and "Check the garden"
• She has 16 teeth
• She is wearing a size 4 diaper
• She is wearing mostly 24M and 2T clothing
• Her favorite books...'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' and 'Pinkalicous'
• She loves going to the park and could 'wing' (aka swing) all day long but sometimes she will take a break from 'winging' to go down the slide
• Her favorite foods continue to be hot dogs, noodles and cucumbers but she also eats plenty of melon, peas, ham, mac & cheese, pretzels, pancakes, rice and yogurt
• She can count to 5 but 90% of the time she stops at 3
• She sings her ABCs and it still regresses and progresses each day...most often its "ABCDEF, LMNOP"
• Her favorite color this month is yellow...everything is yellow, which is a change because previously everything was blue
• She is well on her way to being potty trained
• She loves to play with my hair...brushing it and giving me a ponytail
• She is turning into such a big girl and is starting to have an opinion about everything -- what to eat for lunch, what to wear, what to play with...etc

Tales of Potty Training a Toddler

Last week we actually had an entire week with no planned activities so I put a line through the week on the calendar and put Addison in big girl panties!  And the rest is history...sort of!?

And after a week plus, I can honestly say that she is getting the hang of it and we've made good progress.  And that's something I didn't think I'd ever say last Monday....day 1 was rough!  We ran to the bathroom every 20 minutes yet she still managed to blow through 6 pairs of panties and 2 diapers.  Twenty minutes into potty training and I was already taking apart the highchair and washing every piece of it!  I spent a lot of quality time on the floor of the bathroom, read plenty of potty books and dished out countless mini M&Ms.

We had our ups and our downs...scratch that...we are still having our ups and downs.  But we are finally venturing out of the house and she staying dry.  I'm not ready to move her out of her crib, so I'm not even tackling naps and nighttime, yet.  And we still have to conquer going #2 on the toilet...but baby steps!  My big girl is wearing big girl panties during the day...and I'm happy with the progress she is making.



Friday Night at the Fair

We went to the Tonitown Grape Festival Friday night.  First, we enjoyed the all you can eat spaghetti dinner and then we walked around the fair grounds.  Lots to look at, so Addison was happy!

She spotted the zebra on the carousel from half-way across the fair grounds.  Unfortunately when it came time to ride the carousel the zebra was already taken so she had to settle for the elephant.

The other big hit was the 'carni' game that you could win a live bunny...luckily we didn't come home with a bunny!
