Addison turned THREE on Saturday, October 11th.
We tried to make it a special day for her and make sure she understood it was her birthday, even though her birthday party (which she had been talking about for months) wasn't for another week. She woke up to Mommy and Daddy signing Happy Birthday and came downstairs to a couple of presents set out for her.
She was so excited to see the bike and in no time she was zipping around the house. It was a rainy weekend, so the bike actually stayed inside for a couple of days and by the time it went outside she was really picking up speed and I was worried she was going to take out a corner of the drywall.
Of course, she got sprinkle pancakes in the shape of As and 3s for breakfast. We also hung some balloons because in Addison's world balloons = birthday. And on another note, she was allowed to pick out her own clothes and decided on Addison hair...isn't it lovely!
Because it was such a yucky, rainy day we opted for a little bowling as morning entertainment. This was really her first time to actually get shoes and her own ball and really bowl. She wasn't to sure about it initially, but totally warmed up to it and ended up having a great time. Very independent though, wanted to get her own ball and carry it to the lane.
And of course, we can't forget this little guy...he was a super bowling buddy and slept the entire time and woke up for just a bit while we where enjoying a birthday lunch at Chick Fil A.
When we were arrived home from lunch, Landon and Chris were waiting to wish Addison a Happy Birthday. She opened her present and of course her and Landon immediately started playing with it...FINGER PAINTS!
After nap, and before dinner, we decided it was a perfect time to enjoy a piece of cake. A pink cake covered in sprinkles was just what the birthday girl ordered up.
We ended her "Birthday Weekend" with a Mommy-Daughter date to see Sid The Science Kid LIVE at Walton Art Center in Fayetteville on Sunday the 12th. It was a nice time for just the two of us. Addison loved the show and recognized most of the songs but was a little confused why Teacher Suzie was the only character that was a person and not a big costume character. She kept saying the really Teacher Suzie wasn't there.
Addison continued the celebrating on Tuesday the 14th when she brought cookies to share with her MMO class. Seeing that about 2 weeks before her Flamingo birthday party, the one we had been planning since the day Asher was born, she asked if she could change it to a Frozen party...sigh...I decided to at least make her some Olaf cookies to share. She loved them and so did her little class -- well except for that one kid, you know the one...the one that looked at me with a snotty face and declared that she only likes Sven cookies....yeah, that one!? Ha!

The celebrating didn't end there either, of course we had the much anticipated Flamingo Party but that deserves an entire post by itself. More to come...I promise!
