Honestly, Arizona was not on the top of my places to visit in the summer time...especially 30 weeks pregnant! But John's cousin Jaci was getting married and we weren't going to miss it...so off to Phoenix we went for a little fun in the sun and family time.

The glorious forecast for our time in AZ! |
Addison was so happy that Daddy was traveling with us. So many of our plane rides are just the 2 of us, she was excited to sit next to Dad. I was pretty excited too...another set of hands to help entertain the 2.5 year old on the 2.5 hour flight.

They both got naps! |
We arrived in Phoenix or I guess North Scottsdale around dinner time on Tuesday and met up with John's Mom and Bill. We headed straight to dinner and on the way Addison started complaining her ear hurt...joy!? She has NEVER had an ear infection...NEVER...so surely it was just because of the pressure from the plane ride, right? After a rough dinner, in which Addison declared "I no like nothing" and refused to eat grill cheese, French fries or a chocolate milkshake we headed back to the hotel and gave her some Tylenol. Within minutes, seriously minutes, she was like a new kid and was playing and jumping on the bed with Grandma Diane. So we gave her a quick bath and then joined the bigger group poolside to watch the older kids swim and catch-up with John's cousins.
We decided to take a wait and see approach on the ear and continued to give Addison Tylenol as needed. We had a rough night Tuesday which ultimately ended with Addison in new pajamas, vomit all over John and another dose of Tylenol for Addison at about 1:30am. Miraculously after the Tylenol Addison was like a new kid again and wanted to play and was mad at John for trying to make her sleep.
We opted out of the water park fun with everyone on Wednesday, thinking we might be taking Addison to a walk-in clinic. But after an awesome breakfast and early nap, we decided to hold off a little longer on visiting a clinic. Fast forward to another rough dinner with the group and John and I realized we made the wrong decision by not taking Addison in. So we dropped everyone off at the hotel and ventured over to Phoenix Children's Hospital After Hours Clinic where they confirmed Addison did have an ear infection but advised us to hold off on antibiotics for another 24 hours. So we continued on with the Tylenol and a irritable 2.5 year old. Wednesday night turned out to be much like Tuesday...Addison in new pajamas, vomit all over the bed but this time John ventured to Walgreens at 3am to get Addison's prescription filled.
Thursday we started the day with a new approach...we were determined to power through this! Girlfriend was on meds now and John and I were tired of sitting around the hotel room. We were off to the Phoenix Children's Museum with Grandma Diane, Bill, Uncle Chris and Landon. Addison had so much fun! We literally had to drag her out of the museum kicking and screaming because in her words "I play for just a little more" -- she would have stayed all day but the rest of the group was hungry.
We made it back to the hotel after lunch in time for a little nap and a quick swim before we headed off to the Rehearsal Dinner Party at Tom and Sandy's. This was my first Hull wedding and let me tell you...they don't disappoint! They know how to throw a good party!
The wedding was Friday afternoon, so Friday was low-key...a little swimming and a little lunch before naps and then it was time to get ready to head to the church. Addison was still a little irritable I think it was a combination of the ear infection and the heat. Luckily the reception was at the hotel and close to our room so we were able to take a little break from the fun after dinner but made it back to the party for cake and a little dancing.

Saturday was the post-wedding pool party. We took over one of the four pools at the hotel and everyone had a blast. We were amongst the early 'partiers' -- basically all those with kids held down the fort in the morning and post lunch as the kids all napped the grown-ups kept the party going. Addison and I opted for naps, but John was able to enjoy the fun poolside.

Not the greatest pic but at one point the pool was FULL and anyone on the side was being tossed in. |
Sunday morning came too quickly, as it always does. Our flight out was at 8am so we pulling away from the hotel around 5:30am. It was so great to see all the family...hopefully next time we will leave the ear infection at home :)
