Sweet Friends & Spring Time
We have been enjoying time with sweet friends and warmer weather outside!
Addison and her best bud Tucker |
I'm not sure who taught her to catch bubbles on her tongue, but she thought it was a good idea. She didn't get a chance to do it with snowflakes, I guess bubbles are the next best thing. |
Addison and Tucker on a movie date... They had to get their own 'popcorn' because they won't share the same bowl. |
Tucker treats Addison like a princess and pushes her around... |
And around... |

Tulips!
We went to the Bentonville square Saturday afternoon...you know to see the fountain?! :) To our surprise the fountain was empty but the tulips were in full bloom. So in between the swarm of prom pictures that were being taken we got a few of Miss Addison.

Puppy Love
If you ask anyone that knew me 10 years ago if I was a dog person, the answer would be a resounding NO. I didn't grow up with any pets (I guess there was Herman the goldfish but he only lasted a week or so) and I actually had an irrational fear of dogs until I was...well way to old to still be afraid of them.
Fast forward 10 years and I am an adopted mother to a long haired/stinky/lovable golden retriever, baking puppy cakes and hosting dog parties. What happened?!
First, Emily -- the dog that started it all.
Second, the puppy cake...I heard back from my client and Eli LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his puppy cake.
Third, the dog party. Really, I just like any excuse to invite the family over and cook a nice meal and bake a little something sweet. And this week Kenai turned 4, so it was a perfect excuse.
I baked a carrot and peanut butter cake for the dogs and dog bone shaped sugar cookies for the humans. Everyone was happy...
And because no post to this blog is complete without a picture of my princess...

18 Month Update
Developments this month...
- She weighs in at 23lbs and 3 ounces (33 percentile), height is right at 31 inches (30 percentile) and head circumference is 41 centimeters (86 percentile).
- She no longer refers to us as 'mama' and 'dada' -- we are 'mommy' and 'daddy'...which makes her seem like such a big kid now!
- I'm not even going to attempt to continue to capture all the words she says, she surprises us everyday with new words she knows or by repeating what we say.
- Favorite song is still 'If You're Happy and You Know It' and she has started to 'sing' to herself while in the car seat or crib...which is just really sing-song babbling.
- She loves to color these days...she is cranking out pictures at record pace.
- Her baby dolls and Elmo are still her favorite toys and she sleeps with a stuffed animal or two (one usually is Elmo) each night and for naps.
- Her love for basketball continues and she was a huge fan of the NCAA Tournament...still not sure what we are going to do now that college basketball is over :)
- As Spring has come, we are spending more and more time outside and she loves bubbles and taking Emily for walks. She also likes to 'fix' her red car with her tool set while we play outside.
- She started back in swim lessons and is finally blowing bubbles for the teacher and jumping off the side to me while in class...got to get those skills mastered again before we open to pool.

PUDDING!
I found an old picture of myself on my mom's iPad this weekend and it inspired me to make a tasty treat for Addison tonight for dessert.
I can't help but see a little of myself in Addison...maybe just a little from the side?! She still looks an awful lot like her daddy did when he was a toddler.

A Walk In The Park
During one of our short bursts of nice weather a couple of weeks ago we took a walk on the trails at the museum...so not exactly a park, but close enough...
Pur the recent norm, Addison spent more time out of the stroller then in -- not even sure why we bring it anymore. She wanted to stop and pet every dog we saw, until the dog actually stopped and then she got scared/nervous.

We ended our walk at the fountain on the square and I'm pretty sure Addison would have jumped in and gone swimming had we let her.

Easter 2013
We had a wonderful Easter yesterday! Little Sleeping Beauty wasn't too happy that we woke her up early for mass, but she eventually came around and took her 'pssss' full of mini books and yogurt covered raisins and off to church we went. She is wearing a dress my Grandma smocked for my sister Abbey! I LOVE that we have these dresses to pass down...
We went to the early mass so we were home by 9:30 and I was in the kitchen preparing breakfast/brunch for family and friends. John was in charge of Addison and they opened Easter baskets, sampled ALL the candy, searched for easter eggs and played with bubbles. Ms Addison skipped breakfast and by the time we sat down for brunch had consumed countless jellybeans, a handful of sixlets, half of a peanut butter egg, a marshmallow, 2 crackers and that's just what I know about?! :)
Brunch was tasty...I made bacon quiche, spinach and mushroom quiche, candied bacon, smoked salmon toasts and we had fruit and yummy fruit dip that Lindsay made. We had mimosas and bloody mary's and of course yummy sugar cookies for dessert. And the only picture I managed to snap was of sugar cookies!? Oh well...
After everyone left, we all took naps! I told John I wasn't sure if I had fallen asleep for 20 minutes or 2 days but it was an amazing nap...ha.
HAPPY EASTER!
