Easter 2014

Our Easter festivities officially started Saturday afternoon as Addison dyed Easter Eggs for the first time.  I only boiled 10 eggs which initially seemed like it might not be enough but it turned out to be just perfect because by egg 10 she was flinging them around and dropping them into multiple color bowls and it got messy REALLY fast.

We got up bright and early Sunday morning and went to the early mass at church.  Addison took a quick peek at her Easter basket but was surprisingly fine with leaving it and going to church.  The Easter Bunny brought her a kite, a new bubble machine, a kick board and squirt gun for the pool, cups, undershirts and animal crackers.  The Easter Bunny also left plenty of candy in the eggs that where hidden outside.

The advantage of going to the early service was we got home from church and still had plenty of time before our family and friends came over for Easter lunch.  John and Addison even were able to read their usual Sunday Funnies.

John smoked some pork and I cooked a honey glazed ham and of course made some sweet treats.  Addison assisted with it all!

The main event didn't happen until everyone finished eating...the Easter Egg Hunt!  The kids were excited to hunt for eggs and more excited to see what was inside.  The Easter Bunny didn't expect it to get so hot so fast and might have put a little too much chocolate in the eggs and most of it turned into a big chocolate mess...oops!  Thankfully there was plenty of non-chocolate treats to enjoy too.

Landon and Addison were both recipients of new remote control cars thanks to Papa Doc and had tons of funny racing them around the pool.

We ended our Easter with dinner on the patio and a little Charlie Brown Easter Special on TV...Addison was in heaven!

Springtime Shenanigans

2 days after 'opening' the pool Addison was able to convince me she needed to dip her toes in.  The air temp was 80...the water temps was a different story!

Toes turned to legs and ultimately she ended up on all fours on the swim shelf...

In tears...

Enjoying a picnic lunch outside on the patio.

Addison was a huge help as John prepped the ground for our garden.

Addison and John's attempt at kite flying.

Addison enjoyed it...even if it only lasted a few minutes.

I forgot to take my camera to the Easter Egg Hunt at MMO but Addison was more than happy to pose for pictures once we got home.

Her art masterpiece for the week!

20 Weeks & Counting

I can't believe we've hit the halfway mark of this pregnancy but we have...

We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday and I'm very happy to report that the baby looks healthy!  John and I agreed not to find out the gender and had the ultrasound tech seal the gender pic in an envelop for us.  We signed the back of the envelope across the seal and hopefully our willpower will stay strong and we won't open it before d-day.

I'm pretty confident John won't waiver but Addison is unknowingly doing her best to make me second guess our decision.  Every time she tells me she wants to buy the baby girl a princess dress I just want to know if we can go do it or not.  We'll see...but I figure even if she gets a little brother she is probably still going to dress him up in princess dresses so maybe it doesn't really matter :)

Speaking of big sister, she couldn't be more excited about the baby.  We waited to show her the ultrasound photos until John got home from work and just at the mention of the baby she requested to put on her big sis t-shirt.  And surprisingly she wasn't too thrown off by the ultrasound pictures.  I thought she might be confused because it wasn't going to look like the baby she had been imagining but once John pointed out the silhouette of the head, she totally got it.
