Elmo

Hello, my name is Addison and I'm addicted to Elmo.  I also like to accessorize myself with lots of pretty necklaces, headbands and purses...but that's another post! :)

The girl got a few Elmo books for Christmas and we haven't looked back!  She is CRAZY about Elmo...  She knows Elmo lives in the boxes (aka iPads and iPhones) and it doesn't matter who's it is, it should be playing Elmo.  She even convinced Grandpa Doc to download her favorite Elmo app last week...those little brown eyes are pretty convincing though!

I have to hide the iPad and my phone for most of the day so that she will do other things.  Once she is zoned into Elmo nothing else matters and nothing tops Elmo so its hard to break her away from it.  The only fits the girl has thrown are when we take Elmo away.

We have to limit the amount of Elmo time she gets each day.  It makes it incredible hard to FaceTime with anyone because she says 'hi' and then immediately starts blowing kisses and says 'bye' and 'melmo' all in the same breath and swipes at the screen trying to bring up her Elmo app.

And next week its just as likely to be Mickey Mouse or Princesses.  Who knows what she will be CRAZY for next but for now Elmo is #1 on Addison's list!

Snow!

Last week when it snowed I put Addison down for a nap with full intentions of getting her out in the snow when she woke up.  But the weather had other plans because all 1 to 1.5 inches of it had melted by the time Addison woke up.  So this morning when I woke up and saw these huge snowflakes...

I was determined to get outside and play!  You know for Addison's sake, not because I hadn't made a snowman myself in 10+ years... :)

The snow was PERFECT snowman making snow and I got Addison excited about it by telling her we were making 'balls'.

I don't even think we were outside for 15 minutes and she was ready to come inside.  And this is her scolding me once we got inside because I was trying to get a picture of her rosey cheeks.

2013 Academy Awards

Yesterday afternoon I asked John if he wanted to fill out ballots and have a little bet between the two of us on who would win awards -- a little healthy competition is always nice, right?!  He was nice enough to point out that we hadn't seen a single movie nominated for an award much less gone to the movie theater in 16 months so it would be a pointless exercise...sigh...life with a toddler! :)  But I wouldn't trade it!

Last year, I was excited just to get some of Addison's coos on video during the Oscars.

This year, we were ecstatic that she sat still for 5 minutes and let us watch a few minutes of the awards.  How times change...

"I now pronouce you man & wife..."

"You may now kiss your DUCK!"

Addison oversaw a beautiful water wedding last night between Super Duck and Princess Duck during bath time.  She made sure the alter was set perfectly -- arranging her pink washcloth just so.  Both ducks quacked which I have to assume was them saying "I DO" and then she made them kiss several times, ha!  She already has quite the imagination!

Parents, Projects and Parties

It's been a busy few days around here...

Thursday morning my parents flew into town.  They got a little one-on-one time with Addison and John and I got a little one-on-one time without Addison.  We took the opportunity to get out of town for a night by ourselves, a first since Ms Addison was born.  We headed to Branson for a quick get-away and enjoyed some good food and good outlet mall shopping.

Honestly, it wasn't as bad leaving Addison for the night as I thought it might be. I'm not sure if that makes me a good mom or not!? I think I waited long enough (16 months!) and I knew she was in really good hands so there was nothing to worry about. I got a few random pictures while we were gone...Mimi let her dress herself on Friday!

I quick 24 hours after leaving our baby girl, we were back home and the boys were already in project mode.  A little LOT more garage storage was the plan for Saturday.  Addison supervised and assisted with clean-up.

Sunday we 'partied' and celebrated my birthday by having family and friends over for dinner.

Weekend Adventures

What do you do on a rainy, grey Saturday with a toddler that likes to be on the go...visit the pet store of course!  It was like our own little petting zoo -- minus the petting and the yucky smell.

The fish were the clear favorite...we're lucky we didn't walk out with one :)
