Mega Millions

Have you gotten your ticket yet?  $640 million dollars -- How can you resist a chance at all of that cash!?  With odds at 1 in 176 million...I'm pretty sure we are going to win! 

What I could do with all that money...furnish this house that we've lived in for 6 months and haven't bought any furniture for, college tuition for Addison, doggy spa day for Emily, maybe let John say good bye to Walmart -- notice I don't say retire :), oh the list goes on...

Happy Birthday John!

Yesterday was John's 35th Birthday!  Addison and I tried to  make the day really special for our hard working daddy...Addison even woke up early (about an hour) so she could see her daddy and wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY before he left for work. 

We worked feverishly in the kitchen yesterday to make him a wonderful home cooked meal -- pork chops, home made apple sauce and scalloped potatoes for dinner and a chocolate chip swirl cake for dessert.  We had a very productive day and were on target to welcome daddy home with a bang!  John texted he was on his way home and I thought to myself "we might just pull this off..." Addison was fed and I had changed her into a little onesie with a daddy saying on it, the grill was preheating, potatoes in the oven, cake frosted...we were sitting pretty.  And then this happened...

So instead of a cute little girl welcoming her daddy home in a "Daddy's Little Cupcake" shirt, John was welcomed home by this...a naked little Addison sitting in her bumbo helping mommy finish dinner. Still pretty cute, I have to admit!

And she was a big help when it came to opening gifts!

The big winner last night was the chocolate chip swirl cake -- made from scratch because John always gives me a hard time when I make a cake from a box.  I think it was the only thing that he actually said I should make again...

so the extra calories were OK!?

Cousin Love

Chris and Landon came over Saturday evening for dinner and to see Addison.  Boy does Addison love her cousin...he can make her laugh and laugh.

Landon brought one of his books to read to Addison.
He did a GREAT job reading!

Addison even liked watching Landon play with his DS.

Rainy Day = Pajama Day

Since there was 100% chance of rain for most of the day here in NWA, Addison and I decided today would be a perfect day to stay in our pajamas all day and play around the house. I'll spare you all pictures of me in my pajamas (they may or may not match) and just include a few of Miss Addison in her little monkey pjs.

Now if I could only convince her that we were also supposed to just sit on the couch under a blanket and watch Lifetime movies...it might just be the perfect rainy day!

I'll admit that I'm watching a lot more TV these days being home with Addison and nursing her every 3 hours or so but I draw the line somewhere -- sorry if I've offended anyone who enjoys the show.

Anyways, I bring this up because Addison has a crazy obsession...eating paper!  No need to call TLC and send over a film crew...we're sure she'll grow out of it :)

Night Owl

First, let me apologize for the picture quality but I refused to turn on any lights in hopes that if we sat in the dark long enough my sweet baby might decide she was tired :)

This is shortly after midnight last night (or I guess this morning!)  Daddy is fast asleep...Emily is asleep -- snoring so loud I can hear her all the way in the living room...but Addison is bright eyed and looking for someone to play with!

Luckily shortly after the pictures she crashed and I was in bed by 12:30 or so.  I know I should appreciate this time with her more, because some day I'll be sitting on the couch in the dark by myself waiting for her to come home and explain why she missed curfew!

Bonus Day

It's a local holiday here in Northwest Arkansas...Walmart Bonus Day!
Not as big of a holiday as some years, but I'm just grateful that John gets a bonus...can't take that for granted these days.

Anyways, they always make a big deal about it at work and since I won't be joining in the festivities this year I decided to send John to work with a little surprise for his peeps. 

Problem is John has a lot of people that work for him now...so I spent most of yesterday's naps frosting and decorating cookies.  I made everyone 1 spark cookie and 1 dollar sign cookie, so you're talking about 120 cookies!  But at the end of the day I really enjoy doing it and its a great little creative outlet for me...

5 Month Update

Addison turned 5 months this past Sunday - March 11th.  WOW how times flies!  I think I'm going to have a complete breakdown next month when she is half a year...but that's not for another month so I'll enjoy this stage while it lasts.

Addison at 5 months

• She is wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6 months or 6 months clothing -- and maybe I can still squeeze her into a couple of 3 month outfits that I don't want to give up :)
• She is still our night owl...going to bed around midnight and we wake her up at 9 but we've had a little regression on the sleeping through the nights and for the first time in months she has been waking up in the middle of the night
• She is nursing every 3 to 3.5 hours and taking 2 good naps and maybe a cat nap a day
• She has really started to sit-up well on her own, I won't say we are 100% there yet but VERY close
• She continues to love bath time, stroller rides and time in her activity center

We can't wait to see what this next month brings...we love you Addison!

Silly Dog

Addison has noticed Emily for awhile now...she will watch her as she walks across the room or look over at her if she shakes.  But Saturday night Addison really noticed Em and she had us all laughing.

Pretty low key weekend...nothing else exciting to share!

Red Velvet Sheet Cake

John needed to take a cake into work for one of his managers so Addison and I decided to get messy in the kitchen yesterday.  We made a new recipe...a red velvet sheet cake.  The recipe is from the Pioneer Women.  I'll spare you all the step by step pictures (you can go to Ree's site for that) and I'll  just include the final product and of course the cutest sous-chef ever. 

February Picture A Day

Before Addison was even born I decided I was going to take a picture of her face every day for the first year.  I'm not sure where I came up with the idea, I guess I saw it on the Internet somewhere or something.  I'm proud to say that I've actually stayed true to it and have taken a picture of her each day -- thank you iPhone!  But like all of my great ideas someone thought of it before me and did it better. :)  They even make an app for it...of course someone thought of an app, there is an app for everything.  Anyways, I shelled out the 99 cents and bought the Project 365 Pro app and am LOVING it.  Here is what February looks like...

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with all the pictures at the end but I'm thinking a flip book or something.  I want to try and start taking more of the pictures with my real camera, I think they just look so much better but the iPhone is just so quick and easy!
